Re:optimal working hour - 2007/10/12 01:29
Hi Gang! I can tell you that I have been doing body work for 12 years now, and I was used to doing 9-12 sessions a day 4 days a week! DEEP TISSUE! Then working on my private clients on my days off. When you work in a fast pace hotel environment, such as Las Vegas Resorts, we usually work a 10 hour shift with one hour for lunch. Then there's the "Can You Stay and do ONE MORE! Mr. So and So is a VIP and we need someone to stay". So there you are, working another hour or so, then his wife or friend would also like one, after you get to the room! So you stay for that as well. I have been doing this for 8 years now, as well as tending to my private practice, and I am BURNT!! I was actually looking to leave the massage world because my body is just not capable of working so hard any longer. I just resigned from the hotel industry and am really looking forward to the PEACE and PACE of making my own schedule. I can say that the hotel industry has been good to me, since there is an abundance of massage recipients, however, you only make a percentage of the cost of the session, and you must do many to make a good living. Sometimes Quantity is not better than Quality. I now book 1 1/2 - 3 hour sessions, and I can work at my own pace, and make my own prices on my OWN time! The quality of my work has increased and I am now able to spend as much time as needed with each client. My body is loving me for it!
